

Indian Creek is a first-come, first-served campground run by the National Park Service. The campground is away from the main road and provides a quieter, more primitive experience than many other locations. In addition, the area provides easy access to fishing and hiking. Located about eight miles south of Mammoth Hot Springs on the road to Norris -elevation 7,300 feet-sits near the base of the Gallatin Mountains and offers breathtaking views of Electric Peak. Yellowstone has always been one of the most popular camping destinations in America. Mammoth Campground is a reservation-only campground 5/1–10/15 run by the National Park Service. This state is rich in well-known wilderness areas Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park see millions of visitors each year. Excellent wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with elk and bison occasionally passing through the campground. It had gorgeous views of the Tetons and we loved being there. The campground is close to fishing, hiking, and the Mammoth Hot Springs Terraces. I found an amazing boondocking area just down the road from the park, Called Upper Teton View. Scattered juniper and Douglas fir trees provide shade during hot summer months. The only campground in the park open year-round, elevation at 6,200 feet, is located five miles south of the park’s North Entrance.
